Across Five Aprils “Helpless Dreams Assassin”

There is no rhyme or reason to the bands I pick for this site. Some are well-known, some are local, some are just around. This band popped into my head for some reason. I heard first heard about then in the nether regions of Tennessee, probably back when I lived in Nashville. Then a friend of mine mentioned them about a year and a half ago on our way to an Underoath show and we saw they were putting out new material. They emerged into my consciousness again today, and now, I guess they’re signed to Victory Records, with close to 200,000 profile views on MySpace. Crazy.

Pretty typical screamo/hardcore–a less complicated Underoath is a good comparison–but they fall into all the hardcore band archetypes of The Chariot, As Cities Burn (are they Southern?), and Fear Before The March Of Flames. Raw power and energy smarted with a Southern/Chattanooga aw-shucks kind of look. There shirts are now appearing in Hot Topic stores across the South.
